Dr. James Spencer will be speaking on the importance of prayer and the way it orients Christians in the world.

  • 1775 The first Continental Congress called for a National Day of Prayer.

  • 1863 Abraham Lincoln called for such a day.

  • 1952 Congress established NDoP as an annual event by a joint resolution, signed into law by President Truman.

  • 1988 The law was amended and signed by President Reagan, designating the NDoP as the first Thursday in May.

  • Family Fun Night Fundraiser by Scottsbluff MOPS

    The Scottsbluff MOPS Family Fun Night Fundraiser will take place at Monument Bible Church on Thursday, April 18th. Dinner and Penny Carnival take place from 5 to 7 PM; Silent Auction from 5 to 730 PM. Tickets will be sold at the door and cost $5 per person; kids 2 years old and under are free. Admission includes dinner and penny carnival.

    Monument Bible Church is located at 4124 Avenue I in Scottsbluff.

    Missionaries from Jerusalem at Emmanuel Congregational Church

    Join Emmanuel Congregational Church, located at 4100 Ave B in Scottsbluff on Sunday, April 21 at 1:30 PM for an afternoon with Beni Friedman and his family who are missionaries from Jerusalem.

    Beni will discuss Israel, the current issues there, the Biblical mandate to support Israel and much more.

    There will be a free will offering set up for his mission.

    Chimney Rock Faith Theater

    The 3rd annual Chimney Rock Faith Theater will take place June 1st and 2nd at 5:30pm near the Chimney Rock Pioneer Cemetery, which is past the Chimney Rock visitor center, then right at the county road.

    It is a free Community Worship Service featuring theatrical performances by Luke Storer and Hadassah Grubbs, and special music by “Fellowship Band”.

    Creation Truth Foundation VBS

    The Central Church of Christ at 1245 Five Rocks Road in Gering will be hosting a Creation Truth Foundation Vacation Bible School the week of June 9th-13th.

    Casting Crowns and Anne Wilson Concert at Grand Island

    Grammy Award winning Christian artist Casting Crowns and special guest Anne Wilson are coming to the Nebraska State Fair on Sunday, August 25th. The 7:30pm show will be inside the Heartland Events Center at Grand Island and will have reserved seating. Ticket prices start at $25.

The area’s only truly local Christian radio station

 

The radio station went on the air in 1981 serving mainly Terrytown, Scottsbluff and Gering. In the late 1980s, KCMI received a major boost in power and listenership as it became a 100,000-watt station. KCMI now serves an area roughly bounded by Sidney, Oshkosh, Hay Springs, Nebraska and Lingle, Wyoming to the west.

 

Thousands of Christian-themed books

 

The Cross Reference Library is a free lending library which offers thousands of Christian-themed books. Among the categories of books available are: biographies, Christian living, Bible study, missionaries, men’s issues, women’s issues, and novels. We even have an exciting array of children’s books.

 

Valley Homeschool Association’s extensive library

 

You may check out curriculum for your children as needed to help with their home education at no cost. This library is located in the basement of CMI offices, 209 East 15th Street in Scottsbluff, and is available during weekday business hours.
